Thomas Turned Two Today!

Thomas turned two years old today. To celebrate his special day, we took a trip to Balch Park and spent the day. I think he stayed dirty all day long but he loved it. Hugging trees with big brother, Andrew
Baby blues and a dirty face-simply irresistable!

Hey mom, check out the cool stuff on these trees.

My favorite, animal cookies. See this one!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Thomas!

Morgan's White Pigeon

So a couple of weeks ago, Morgan started hand raising a couple of baby white pigeons. This one had been badly pecked so we didn't know if it would survive. With diligent feedings, Morgan has been able to get this one to be quite tame and friendly.
She does love those baby birds. In a few more weeks, this one should be flying around and coming back home with the rest of the flock.

Andrew's PB & J

Andrew decided he wanted to make his own peanut butter and jelly sandwich today. so he did-and I think he did a pretty good job for a 4-year-old.
However, you have to watch out for the sneaky little brother in the background!

Museum of Art

In order to complete their art merit badge for boy scouts, we needed to visit an art museum. Although there are lots of great museums in Los Angeles, we opted for a closer alternative and visited the Bakersfield Museum of Art. It's been a very long time since I was in Central Park and it's been completely redone and upgraded. Check out the pond complete with fireman doing a canal resuce training exercise. Ray and Thomas tried to enjoy the outdoor playground but at 105 degrees outside, the fun was short lived.
While the firefighters were doing their training rescues, we took the photo opportunity with a couple of the firetrucks.

The museum of art had a Salvador Dali exhibit as well as some rather interesting ceramics and other artwork.
So, what else can you do when it's 105 degrees outside. . .who would want to be outside anyway??

Boxing Day??

James received a new punching bag from Aunt Cori as well as hand/wrist wraps to prevent injury. Of course, James came up with some interesting ways to use his new equipment.

Interesting head gear???

Here's the guy that greets me now every time I open the garage door. It's a little disconcerting but funny too.
Just a glimpse into our wierd but wonderful world!
